CITY VINEYARD

Ok, I (normally) try to keep it local and talk about “hidden” places in NYC neighborhoods, but this is a place that I have loved since before moving to downtown New York and it is one of those places that has to be shared!

Now that I am in the Financial District, the walk to City Vineyard is much easier, especially during the summertime when I can walk by the water, enjoy the view of the pier and the beautiful NYC. But two years ago, when I was living in Hell’s Kitchen, I would jump on a city bike and pedal down here just to go to this place. No jokes, this was a Sunday brunch thing with my friends. Pedal all the way downtown, enjoy some brunch and drinks at City Vineyard’s rooftop, and pedal back home.

Ok, but cutting to what matters here, I love this place not only because of their brunch (DUH!) but because of their space and their wine.

City Vineyard is a franchise and they have locations in Chicago, Nashville, Boston, Atlanta, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and Hudson Valley. For those who don’t know, they have their own wine and you can order online through their website. No, you don’t have to go there only to drink their wine, you can order online and drink it at home - and it is all produced in the US which makes it even cooler!

As I mentioned, the space they have is one of the things that I love about them. They have two floors. The first floor is a lovely restaurant all flowery and with Baril decoration (which just makes sense, lols), but the second floor is the rooftop and, believe me when I say this, it is A VIBE up there!

In the summer, the second floor will be completely open with big couches and high stools. They have a gigantic bar up there, so you can order at the bar whatever you like and chill with your friends or your date while you enjoy the city view and the water breeze.

In the summer, during sunset time, it gets pretty crowded and can look like a party, with everyone standing and loud music (not that kinda loud though, it is not a nightclub, lol), but, to be honest, that is one of my favorite moments there. It is a great crowd and the place itself does the work with the view and the whole decoration.

No, don't worry about being cold on their rooftop during the wintertime! They set up cozy igloos on the roof, so you can still enjoy the view and have a delicious drink without freezing in NYC winter.

The food is nothing crazy, but it is SO delicious and they have a great variety of salads, they have a raw bar, mac and cheese, and, my favorite, Steak Frites. From the brunch menu, my favorite is the City Vineyard Burger.

Speaking of brunch, no, they don’t offer a bottomless brunch, but don’t be disappointed! The nice space, the great wine selection, and the rooftop totally make up for the “lack” of the bottomless brunch.

Now, I am no wine expert! All that I know is that I like red wine in the winter (aka the full-body ones), and white wine in the summer (aka the crisp and clean ones). They do offer options like these and they offer different options of wines on tap and by the bottle, but I am sure you will find a wine option that you will love!

Three other things that make this place awesome:

  1. You can become a member of their wine club

  2. They offer live shows - and not only music shows but also comedy shows and they always have a special guest.

  3. You can host a private event there - including weddings!
