NYC Lifestyle - Fogo De Chão

It’s been a minute since the last NYC LIFESTYLE post and I will admit that I want to bring these blogs back in style. Aka Brazilian style, so let's talk meat!

For the first time in almost seven years (damn… seven years! I still can’t believe this) I went to the famous Brazilian Steakhouse, Fogo de Chao. Now, I am not sure if it was because I miss home food or if it is because the place is actually that good, but let me tell you, it's worth every penny!

To start, the place has a very traditional Brazilian style. Literally, most steakhouses in Brazil are buffet style and this one is no different. A huge salad buffet and another side buffet for warm food. But that is not all, the meat comes to you, as it should be.

The servers keep passing around different types of cuts and different types of meat, so if you tell me that there is something you don’t/can’t eat, don’t worry, there will be many other options for you to choose from and, believe me, everything is delicious.

Some of my favorite cuts are picanha, entrecot, maminha, salsichão and chicken heart.

PS: Besides the chicken heart, all the other cuts of meat are named in Portuguese. I AM SORRY! I don’t know the names in English… but don’t worry, if you go there and ask for this, you will certainly eat like there will be no tomorrow!

Now, in terms of the salad buffet, you have to try the mayonnaise, which is a very traditional potato salad we have in Brazil. Definitely go for the rice and beans as well because, DUH!

If you are going to ask me about the drinks, well… definitely try caipirinha! This is the most traditional Brazilian cocktail. Other than that, they have a variety of wines, beers, and cocktails that will not disappoint. Me, in particular, I will suggest the caipirinha and red wine because red wine goes really well with all the meat you will be eating.

I honestly can't believe that it took me almost seven years to go visit this place. All that I have to say now is that I am coming back. If I could, I would most definitely be there every week, but I really would like to avoid renovating my entire wardrobe because of the weight I will gain eating there every week… Certainly good back there more often and, if you are trying to impress someone, that is definitely a go-to!
