Everyone who followed me for a while probably knows that I love the cosmopolitan lifestyle of NYC, and I certainly (CERTAINLY) like to go dancing with my girls.
One thing that my readers are always asking me is which clubs I usually go to. SO, better late than never, let’s talk about my favorite nightclubs in New York City.
Believe it or not, this was the very first club I went to when I first arrived in NYC. To be honest, when I first went there, I didn’t even know it was a rooftop club… Yup, I had no idea!
I was living in New York for 3 months, so I was literally a baby to the big apple, and I was still in English school. One of my classmates, who came to New York simply to eat and to visit bars (I loved her!), invited me to go to this rooftop called PHD. As a good cosmopolitan girl, always prepared for a nice bar and a cocktail obviously said “let’s go”. That was in the middle of a summer afternoon, so when we got there the place was super chill, not a crazy vibe at all.
After a couple of cocktails and watching the sunset there, we both headed home. Little did I know that one of my first coworkers would invite me to go there to an actual party. I went there with my coworker and some friends to learn that the place is chill and has a beautiful sunset DURING THE DAY! At night time the place becomes a real nightclub with great music.
They have an open area, so you also have a beautiful view of the city lights at night. The space is not huge, but with high ceilings, which makes the space look wide open.
As I said, the place is also open for sunset parties in the summer, so you can choose if you want more chill vibes or if you want to go there for a real party. Also, they have a super cool Sunday bench party - in case you want to brunch, but also take shots and dance on the couch…
Another fun fact about this place, the first bday I celebrated in NYC was here. You know, when I actually had friends… My lovely friends got me one of those sparkly signs saying “happy birthday Barbs'' with bottles of champagne and I think it was so sweet of them, but I really don’t know because I was in the bathroom when this happened. LOL, I missed the only part of the party that was exclusively dedicated to me.
I will admit that this is one of my all-time favorite clubs. Not just because of the club, but also because of the restaurant.
Yes, the place has a restaurant upstairs with amazing Italian food, so you can get dinner before heading to the club downstairs. I have to say this, if you, indeed, go to the restaurant, get the penne vodka and the Margherita pizza - literally, my favorite!
The club is huge and has different sections, so you might not want to lose your friends there - especially on a crowded night… The main music is electronic and this place is famous for bringing international DJs from all over the world. House music, vintage culture, deep house, you name it! Some famous DJs that have been there are Paris Hilton, Diplo, and Aoki, among many others.
Why is this one of my favorite places? Music is always good, the place itself is super nice and big, and, mainly, they give glow sticks in there - so you can spend most of the night playing with glow sticks and throwing them on your friends.
Ok, I think this was the very first club ever opened by TAO Group Hospitality. They literally changed the entire nightlife scene and Marquee is the reason why they became recognized internationally. I will admit though, I like this place because it is very similar to Lavo.
The music changes according to the night, but most internationally famous DJs and electronic music. The space is also huge and the decor is insane, so you will be up to a great night no doubt!
I will never understand why they named the place like this, but they did and, to avoid any angry reader emails, let’s focus on the club and not the chosen name for the club…
This is a very exclusive club and you need to have contacts to get in, otherwise, I think only buying a table and dropping a few bottles for you to be able to get in but, let me tell you, if that is an option for you, definitely do it!
The place is small with very low ceilings, so definitely very exclusive, and it only plays 90’s hip hop, which I love… so, you know, kinda makes sense why this would be in between my favorites. I will be honest though, the fact that the place is small with low ceilings makes me feel ridiculously claustrophobic there. When it is crowded then, forget about it!
But it is definitely a whole exclusive experience, so if you are in New York and want to experience the real VIP nightclubs in NYC, this is one of the places to go.
